What happens during classes.
Arrive a few minutes before the start of class. This way you give yourself enough time to check in with the instructor, ask any questions, select your space and get settled on your mat.
Please complete an enrolment form, you will be given one of these at class or via email and this will automatically subscribe you to the Yoga2Fitness newsletter if you provide your email address. click here to download and print out a Yoga 2 Fitness Enrolment and Waiver form.
Listen to your body
Each and every class is for YOU! the person on the next mat has a different body, may be super flexible or have an injury, so make sure you do YOUR class and not theirs, you will benefit most when you can relax, breathe and just go with the flow and do what feels right for YOU, this is your time to flex, tone and relax.
Remember that every class is different & you’re different in every class. Some days you feel more energetic other days in need of more relaxation, listen to your body, explore the movements, appreciate where you are at on that day and rest whenever your need to.
No phone, no computer, no mental grocery list making. This is YOUR time….Enjoy it!
If you’re new to yoga, pregnant or have an injury please let the teacher know. This helps them teach as much as it helps you practice.
Focus on calming breaths. There are some days where I lay down for the final relaxation and my mind is still racing. When this happens try and focus on calming breaths….in……..out…….enjoy the relaxation. This is your time, allow yourself to just be and stop, listen and simply breathe!
Find a yoga style that you enjoy. There are different types of yoga: traditional, vigorous, heated and restorative. One class will hold a pose longer, while others flow through a sequence quickly or others are slow and gentle. Find one that you enjoy. There truly is a practice for everyone. Each teacher is unique, with a distinct teaching style, voice and practice.
Finally……smile….. have fun….relax….. Life is busy enough, no need to rush, push or strain. You will benefit most from the class when you are relaxed and explore the movements within your own abilities. Lots of options are given for all levels… listen to your body and make this time for you !
